When a tornado passes over a hilly country, it sometimes rages with destructive violence on the hill-tops, while objects in the intermediate valleys are entirely uninjured, showing that a violent whirl-wind may prevail at moderate elevation, but without reaching the earths surface. A note should be made of the width of the greatest destruction, not including houses unroofed on the borders; also the length of the path where it was most destructive, and the distance from the point at which it first struck the earth to the point at which it left the earth during the time of the greatest destruction. As it reached 961 east of Alvaton in Warren County, it spawned an EF1 tornado with winds estimated at 95 mph destroying a barn and tool shed. Oregon Road was blocked by felled trees from US 127 to the Kentucky River where the tornado lifted. The roof of the house was set down three miles away.
